2009 Christmas Eve Service

pam December 23rd, 2009

Join us for the Christmas eve service, December 24th at 7:30pm.   The drama, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, will be presented by the children and youth.  This heart warming story will be a wonderful way to welcome Christ this Christmas season.

We will also still continue receiving  dry and canned goods for the Help By Phone food pantry.  Canned goods, boxed goods, beans, rice, cereals, and other items that will remain usable for some time are welcome.  Simply place your goods under the Christmas tree in the back of the sanctuary.

SENSING THE SPIRIT, MOVING FORWARD

pam May 27th, 2008

(a congregational mini-retreat)

As the summer begins, we’ll be taking some time on an extended Sunday morning to talk, pray, discern, and worship together.  Each voice is important, and everyone’s presence invited.

Sunday, June 8
9:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
(snacks and child care provided)

Stan Dueck, Area 1 Congregational Life Consultant will lead us in discerning and naming directions for the future.  We’ll be paying attention to
…describing ourselves
…determining focus for the coming five years
…creating a clear statement for Hyattsville Mennonite Church about what form(s) of collaboration we’d like
to consider with them

Come listen for the Spirit, share your perspective, and take the next steps on our unfolding congregational journey!
Christmas Cookie Exchange (Simplicity, focus, and delicious homemade treats all at the same time)

pam December 4th, 2007

O.K., so we won’t say anything about nutrition. But with Christmas around the corner, time may be short for baking all those great varieties of homemade cookies you’d love to have on hand. Here’s a solution:

  • Sign up at the back of the sanctuary (or by calling the office) to participate in a cookie exchange.
  • Choose your favorite variety of cookie, bake lots and lots of that one, and bring most of them to church on December 16
  • Exchange (in batches of ½ dozen) with others bringing different kinds of cookies
  • Go home with just as many cookies as you brought, but with lots of new varieties!

A list of those who would like to bring & exchange cookies will be posted in the sanctuary in December – or call the church office at 301-864-4328 to get your name on the list. (The number of cookies you need to bring will be determined by how many participate)

Congregational Business Meeting — November 11 — Make a special effort to be present!

pam November 6th, 2007

This meeting’s agenda will include receiving written reports and considering the proposed 2008 budget. The greater part of the time will be spent talking about the future, about our relationship with Hyattsville Mennonite Church, and about how we would like to proceed in considering possibilities for further collaboration.

Your presence is invited and needed. Please come. If you will be hungry before 1:30, by which time we will adjourn, you may want to bring a snack or bag lunch to eat as we talk.
