Wellness Fair - Saturday, June 20

Join us on Saturday, June 20 and give a little attention to your own health!  Try some ways of tending body, mind, and spirit; learn from those trained in

  • Blood pressure and cholesterol screening: blood glucose checks (provided by Doctors Hospital)
  • Yoga
  • Reflexology
  • Salsa Dancing
  • Nutrition & local, organic foods - “Master Gardener: Grow It, eat it” (Vegetable gardening in small spaces) provided by UMD Community Nutrition & Urban Gardening Program
  • Tai chi
  • Mental Health awareness
  • Retirement lifestyles (provided by Renaissance Gardens at Riderwood, Silver Spring)
  • …and more!

For Kids:

  • morning and afternoon performances of “Kids on the Block,” a puppet show about bullying and ways to prevent it
  • interactive Internest safety space
  • games
  • make and eat healthy snacks

We’ll have a lunch grill going with grilled veggies, buffalo burgers and other alternatives to the usual will be available.  Stop in for a visit!

Theme & Slogan Ideas Needed for Wellness Fair

Get your creative juices flowing and submit an idea for a theme or slogan for the Wellness Fair on June 20 at the University Park Church of the Brethren. What associations do you have with wellness? Theme submissions will be received by Steve Seitz or the church office through April.

Come by between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and give a little attention to your own health!

Kids are invited to morning and afternoon performances of “Kids on the Block,” a puppet show about bullying and ways to prevent it.  Children’s opportunities also include an interactive Internet safety space, games and snacks.

You’ll have chances to try and/or learn about a variety of ways to tend to body, mind, and spirit, including:
  *salsa dancing
  *nutrition & local, organic foods
  *yoga
  *pastoral counseling
  *reflexology
  *belly dancing
  *tai chi
  *mental health awareness
